SPIRULINA is a microscopic alga, composed of a string of blue green cells stacked end-on-end in a spiral filament capable of growing in highly alkaline water bodies. It contains very superior quality of protein (55-70%). One kg, which contains as much nutrients as 1000 kg of, assorted vegetables. It is the only vegetable source of vitamin B-12 and also a good source of Beta-Carotene, Iron and a precursor of vitamin A with cholesterol content. The United Nations World Food Organization declared SPIRULINA as “The food for tomorrow”, MCRC Madras has declared it as “The wonder gift of nature” and Japanese chemical company DIC declared it as “The Miracle Food of 20th Century”.
